Director of the Secretary General Private Office, Council of Europe
The 2nd World Summit on Ethics & Leadership in Sports is a rare opportunity to bring together the many different actors needed to restore trust in sport, including the sporting world, business, governments, NGOs and international institutions. The Council of Europe brings a unique perspective, as experts in international cooperation, democratic governance and anti-corruption. It looks likely to be a thought-provoking and significant event.
Bjørn Berge, a Norwegian national, is the Director of the Private Office of the Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, based in Strasbourg, France, a role he has held since October 2009.
He joined the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990, and has held diplomatic posts in several countries including Malaysia, Austria and Sweden.
He holds an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C., USA.
He is also an accomplished writer, having published several books.
